Gefion software previews JSP 1.1 component suite

Hermosa Beach, CA -- November 23, 1999 -- Gefion software today announced the InstantOnline Basic™ for JSP Technology Preview, the first commercial web application development tool based on the new JavaServer Pages 1.1 specification.

InstantOnline Basic for JSP is set of JSP 1.1 custom actions for accessing databases, generating HTML from database queries, sending email, validating user input, uploading files to a web site, and much more. JSP 1.1 custom actions are embedded as XML tags directly into web pages, making it very easy to add dynamic features to a web site. InstantOnline Basic for JSP is based on the popular servlet based version of InstantOnline Basic, which has been used by customers world-wide to develop sophisticated web applications and dynamic web sites since its release in June 1998.

"We have worked closely with Sun on the JSP specification the last year and are very pleased with how JSP 1.1 allows us to enhance our product" said Hans Bergsten, president of Gefion software. "Besides functional enhancements, using the JSP model also let our customers mix and match our InstantOnline Basic components with components developed in-house or purchased from third-parties."

JSP has broad industry support, from both commercial server and tool vendors and Open Source initiatives such as the Apache Jakarta project.
