Gefion software adds Servlet 2.2 features and support
for Open Source JSP 1.1 implementation
Hermosa Beach, CA -- November 11, 1999 -- Gefion
software today announced the release of LiteWebServer
2.2 and WAICoolRunner 2.2, its popular servlet engine
products with support for the latest version of
Sun's Java server technology: Servlet 2.2 and
JavaServer Pages 1.1.
LiteWebServer™ is a pure Java web server. Its
extremely small size makes it ideal for embedded
systems, for bundling with web application demos sent
to potential customers, and for running web
applications distributed on CDs. It's also an easy to
use web server for servlet development, personal use
or a small intranet. WAICoolRunner™ is a Servlet
Engine for Netscape's FastTrack Server 3.01 and
Enterprise Server 3.0/3.5/3.6.
Both products implement the Java Servlet API 2.2 and
support JavaServer Pages (JSP) 1.1 through the bundled
Tomcat JSP container, developed as an Open Source
implementation by the Apache Jakarta project
(
http://jakarta.apache.org/). Gefion software
offers full support for the Tomcat JSP implementation
on the same conditions as for the server code developed
in-house.
"We feel that contributing to the Jakarta project and
provide commercial quality support for this Open Source
product is in the best interest of both our customers
and ourselves," said Hans Bergsten, president of Gefion
software. "Our customers can be sure there's someone
who will answer their questions and provide fixes to
problems in a timely manner, while we benefit from the
development effort of both individuals and large
corporations like Sun and IBM. And everything we do in
terms of enhancements and bug fixes go back into the
Jakarta project, so everyone wins."
