Gefion software's InstantOnline Basic™
receives 100% Pure Java™ certification
from Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Hermosa Beach, CA -- July 9, 1998 -- Gefion software
today announced their database access product,
InstantOnline Basic, has been certified 100% Pure
Java™ by Sun Microsystems, Inc. InstantOnline
Basic is a standards based solution for Web Browser
database access. Conformance to the Java Servlet API,
JDBC™ and HTML 3.2 makes InstantOnline Basic
extremely portable and scalable.
"Gefion software's focus on platform independent
solutions makes the 100% Pure Java certification from
Sun Microsystems, Inc. a very important milestone for
us," said Hans Bergsten, President of Gefion software.
100% Pure Java certification is an award bestowed upon
products that have passed Sun Microsystems' rigorous
static and dynamic tests to show that it runs
flawlessly on the wide range of hardware and operating
systems that support the Java platform. "The
certification assures our customers that InstantOnline
Basic will support their choice of computing
environment, today and tomorrow," Hans added.
InstantOnline Basic is a set of Servlets that are
embedded in HTML files using HTML-like <SERVLET>
tags. The Servlets can be used to read information from
a database and present the result as an HTML table or
as a free-form HTML pattern, and to store information
submitted by a user through an HTML FORM. The Servlet
API is supported by all major Web Servers, natively or
through inexpensive or free 3rd-party add-ons, as well
as by high-end Application Servers, such as Dynamo
and NetDynamics. InstantOnline Basic uses JDBC, the
standard Java database interface, to read and modify
data, ensuring support for all major database engines.
"Sun Microsystems, Inc. is delighted to award 100%
Pure Java certification to Gefion software's
InstantOnline Basic product, one of the first Servlet
based products to be certified," said George Paolini,
director of corporate marketing at Sun Microsystems,
Inc. Java Software. "InstantOnline Basic is a great
example of the value, flexibility and choice customers
gain from a Java technology based, cross-platform
solution."
Gefion software will demonstrate InstantOnline Basic
at The Next 20 Years event in Los Angeles, California,
August 6, 1998. For more information about this event,
