Gefion Software is a privately held company
located in
Hermosa Beach, California, founded in 1997.
Gefion Software is one of the pioneers in the
server-side Java field and develops products that
simplify development of network based, platform
independent applications.
With the company's focus on platform independent
solutions, the Java language is the programming
language of choice. All Gefion Software products are
developed in the Java programming language and use
Java based technology to interface proprietary systems,
such as JDBC for database access.
Hans Bergsten -- President/Sr. Designer:
During Hans's seventeen years at Ericsson he developed
software systems for everything from IBM mainframes,
through DEC minicomputers, Unix workstation and
servers, to PCs, using many different programming
languages. He first came in contact with Object
Oriented concepts through Simula in the development of
a simulator for cellular phone systems in 1985, and he
has continued to explore this powerful technology in
many projects using Smalltalk, C/C++ and Java. He has
developed database applications since before SQL was
the standard database language, worked with network
based applications since the late eighties, and started
to study Java when it was first made public in 1995.
Hans has worked on large and small projects, as a
programmer, designer and as a project manager. In 1997,
Hans founded Gefion Software to further develop his
ideas about network based, platform independent,
software systems.
He participates in the specification of Java
server-side technologies such as the Servlet API,
JavaServer Pages (JSP), JSP Standard Tag Library
(JSTL) and JavaServer Faces (JSF), and
is a frequent writer of articles, the author of
O'Reilly's
JavaServer Pages and a contributor to
Java Enterprise Best Practices (O'Reilly).
